A north-east farmer has completed a charity trek to the summit of Africa’s highest mountain.
Kenneth Dalgliesh returned to Turriff after conquering all 19,340ft of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
The 53-year-old raised almost £2,000 for dementia support charity Alzheimer Scotland in the process.
He decided to raise funds for the organisation as both of his parents suffer from dementia.
Mr Dalgliesh’s son, Gareth, said the 19-strong team on the hike had faced a tough challenge.
He said: “He found it tough for a couple of days, but he made it up and down in one piece.
“There some points where they were on their hands and knees climbing up the mountain.
“And for the final trip to the summit they had to begin the walk at 10pm because of a lack of oxygen.”
Mr Dalgliesh is still fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland and his Just Giving page can be found at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kenneth-dalgliesh1?utm_source=Facebook.
