A north-east man yesterday claimed he ignored a driving ban because his partner put all his items in the vehicle and ordered him to leave her house.
Paul Michael was banned from the roads in July this year after being caught more than three times the drink driving limit on South Deeside Road.
But when he returned home from work on September 26 he found his partner had removed all his possessions and was adamant he was no longer welcome.
He drove off and attempted to find a bed and breakfast to stay in only to be spotted by police offers on Aberdeen’s Great Southern Road at about 6pm.
After a DVLA check and revealed there was no registered keeper of the vehicle, they pulled Michael over and found he was disqualified.
He confessed to driving without a licence or insurance during an appearance in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Representing the 31-year-old, defence agent Liam Mcallister said: “He knows it is not acceptable and has pled guilty at the earliest opportunity.
“He apologises to the court.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace banned Michael, of Raemoir Road in Banchory, from driving for 16 months and fined him £600.
