A Deeside teenager has died in hospital two days after a crash in Perthshire.
Hamish Farquharson, 19, was badly hurt in the collision between a Mini and a Mercedes, about a mile north of Blairgowrie on the A93 Perth to Braemar road on Thursday.
Mr Farquharson, from Braemar, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the accident which happened at 8pm, but subsequently died on Saturday.
A 48-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, suffered “serious injuries”. The man driving the vehicle, 44, was left with minor injuries.
There was an outpouring of grief on social media yesterday after Mr Farquharson’s brother Findlay posted a picture of the pair as young boys on Facebook.
Suzanne Harper wrote: “Your brother was such a genuine lad. His personality and smile has touched many people”.
Dave Till commented: “Hamish was a great lad with a wise head on young shoulders. Our condolences to you and your family”.
Geva Blackett, councillor for the Aboyne and Upper Deeside ward, lives in Braemar and knew Mr Farquharson and his family.
She said: “Hamish was one of the nicest, kindest and mischievous boys who was turning into the nicest, kindest and considerate of adults with a huge sense of fun and adventure.
“His loss is felt by the whole Braemar community and beyond and must be overwhelming for his parents, brother and wider family to whom my heart goes out. Its just so sad.”
News of the tragedy spread quickly in the village. One local man, who didn’t want to be named, said: “I’ve just heard.
