The A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road will be shut at the Ellon bypass this evening to allow for surface upgrades.
The road will be shut in both directions with a diversion in place from 7.30pm tonight to 6.30am tomorrow as part of £250,000 resurfacing works.
The works were expected to be completed by early this morning, but a delay in asphalt being supplied means the work has been extended one more night.
Drivers will be diverted through Ellon for the duration of the closure, adding around two miles and approximately six minutes onto journey times.
Andy Thompson from BEAR Scotland said: “These £250,000 works are part of a larger maintenance project which also saw work on this section of the A90 completed last month.
“The project has been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A90 for motorists.
“To keep everyone safe during the project, a road closure is necessary during these improvements.
“We thank motorists for their patience while we complete these works.”
