With spooky goings on and bumps in the night our reporter Gregor Aiken went to see if Fyvie Castle is haunted.
Ghosts, legends and folklore are all woven into the tapestry of Fyvie’s 800-year-old history. This magnificent fortress in the heart of Aberdeenshire is rumoured to be home of ‘The Green Lady’ – the ghost of Lilias Drummond who was brutally murdered by her husband, Alexander Seton, for failing to provide a son and heir.
The legend tells that Lilias was locked away in the castle and starved to death. Her ghostly laments now haunt the castle and were heard outside the marital bedchamber as Alexander remarried.
Following the night of his second marriage her name was found freshly scratched into the castle walls.
The castle’s rooms filled with antiquities, armour and lavish oil paintings with eyes watching your every move. With a eerie atmosphere the temperature drops and the air fills with the scent of roses – it’s said that you’re in the presence of the ghost of Lilias Drummond.
Watch as Gregor explores the castle and undergoes his own chilling experiences.
