Armed police were forced to swoop on a pub after a man brandished a BB gun in the city centre bar.
Alcoholic Andrew Anderson “fell off the wagon in spectacular style” when he relapsed on August 8 this year while out with friends.
The group had been in the woods shooting BB guns and Anderson kept hold of one as they made their way into the Bridge of Dee bar on Holburn Street.
He was asked to leave after becoming disruptive but returned a short time later with his friends.
And when a member of staff approached him again asking him to make his way out of the pub, he pulled the BB gun out from under his clothing and told his friends to leave.
The 33-year-old then hid the gun in his clothes and left the building.
Police were called and sent armed units to the scene.
Anderson meanwhile made his way to the Abergeldie Bar further up Holburn Street where he met up with his friends again.
When police arrived, they searched him but did not find the weapon.
ANd while the search continued in the building, he told police: “I’m a terrorist arrest me.”
The BB gun was recovered and Anderson was taken to the Kittybrewster police station.
Anderson admitted being in possession of the BB gun, using it in a threatening manner and hindering officers when he appeared in court yesterday.
Representing him, defence lawyer Ian Woodward-Nutt said: “Mr Anderson is a man who has struggled with alcoholism for 15 years.
“For approximately three years leading up to August 8 he had been abstinent from alcohol, that period coincides with a period of time where he remained out of trouble.
“On August 8 he fell off the wagon in spectacular style.”
He added that his client had been attending meetings for his drink problems several times a week, had lost his job as a chef as a result of the incident and also missed the birth of his child while he was remanded in custody.
Sheriff Margaret Hodge deferred sentence on Anderson, of Ashvale Place in Aberdeen, in order to obtain reports.
He will return to court next month.
