A toy bank has been launched to take in unwanted children’s toys and clothes to help families struggling in the run up to Christmas.
Mother-of-two Naomi Earsman found last year that there was nowhere in Banff accepting second-hand toys.
The 28-year-old then came up with the idea of running a toy bank where people could hand in their unused or unwanted itens which were still in good condition.
As a committee member of Banff Playgroup and Toddlers, she decided to run the project in its name.
Used toys can now be handed in to the River Church in Banff between 10am and noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mrs Earsman said: “I approached the River Church as they already run a foodbank and people see it as a trusted place.
“And they agreed to let us run the toy bank from there.
“Hopefully if it’s popular we can run it annually – this time of year can be so difficult.
“Everyone is welcome to come along and see what donations we have received and take away anything they might need for their children this Christmas.
“Last year I tried to pass on toys that my children didn’t play with anymore, only to find that there is nowhere local that will take them in second-hand.
“That gave me the idea.”
Donations of shop bought goods are also welcome from any local residents who want to help families living through hard times enjoy the festive season.
Mrs Earsman added: “We will take in any second-hand toys in a good condition and also new too, from ages zero right up to teenagers.
“We are also accepting books.”
It’s hoped that clothes will also be handed in to help children keep cosy during the winter months.
Requests for items can be made by e-mailing the organiser who hopes families will come forward if they need help.
