A pair of Aberdeen men desperate for cash during a 12-hour drinking binge attacked another man at his home – then forced him to a bank machine to rob him.
Aiden Bartlett, who appeared on remand from HMP Grampian, and Dominic Hawcutt, of Urquhart Road, have both admitted “repeatedly punching” Brendan Allan before forcing him to visit a bank machine and withdraw cash for them.
Bartlett, 22, and 19-year-old Hawcutt attacked Mr Allan at his home on Lemon Street before coercing him to take an undisclosed sum of money from the machine at the Asda supermarket on Beach Boulevard.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday heard that the pair had been drinking from 6pm the previous night when they arrived at Mr Allan’s door at 6am on Saturday, September 1.
Both pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and robbery.
Sheriff William Summers noted that Bartlett had similar offences on his record and jailed him for 14 months.
Due to having no previous convictions, Hawcutt was ordered to perform 240 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
