A north-east community council hopes a public event will help their village to bag and bin its persistent dog mess problem.
Boddam has been plagued by dog fouling in recent months.
The community council and pupils of Boddam Primary School have run several initiatives in a bid to tackle the problem during that time.
Now the national charity Dogs Trust will be visiting the Boddam Public Hall tomorrow to run a drop-in session offering advice about responsible dog ownership.
Elizabeth Moir, secretary of Boddam Community Council, said: “This event is being help due to complaints about the ongoing issue of dog mess around the village and in particular near the primary school.
“The school children have already undertaken a project to put dog bags around the village in an effort to get people to pick up after their dogs.

“The dog mess problem has been raised at community council meetings several times.
“It seems to be a problem for many areas and a solution has yet to be found.”
The charity are also hosting an event at the school to speak to the children and educate them on responsible pet ownership.
Peterhead South and Cruden SNP councillor Stephen Smith got in touch with Dogs Trust about bringing their roadshow to the village to help with the problem.
He said: “I’m hoping this will be a useful event for dog owners.
“Dogs Trust do a lot of good work in promoting good health and responsible ownership, so both owners and dogs should find it valuable to attend.
“Boddam Community Council have kindly supported the event in an effort to promote responsible dog ownership but I think all dog owners will find it useful to attend as there will be free advice on hand from a registered veterinary nurse who will give dogs a free health check, as well as free microchipping and free nail-clipping being available.”
Jennifer Terris, Dogs Trust campaigns manager for Scotland, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Boddam Community Council to provide this event.
“We hope that by working together we can provide a free, easily accessible service to local dog owners and promote all aspects of responsible dog ownership.”
The event will be held in Boddam Public Hall tomorrow between 10am and 2pm.
