A Deeside man bit a police officer on the shoulder as he attempted to avoid being arrested for assaulting his ex-partner.
Ross Telfer eventually had to be pepper-sprayed to prevent him from carrying out further assaults.
The 37-year-old appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday to admit three assault charges stemming from a visit to Jessica Powell’s home in Banchory on Saturday night.
He pleaded guilty to “striking” Ms Powell on the head after calling at her Upper Arbeadie Road address.
After police were called, he assaulted Constable Hamish Wallace by “pushing him onto the ground, causing him to fall, and then biting him”.
He also attacking Constable Mhairi Meston by “repeatedly kicking her on the body”.
Fiscal Felicity Merson told the court: “The police received a 999 call from one of Ms Powell’s children.
“She could be heard in the background screaming for the accused to ‘leave the house now’.
When officers arrived they requested that Telfer enter a police vehicle.
The fiscal said they suspected he was under the influence of alcohol or some other unknown substance as he was flexing his arms and clenching his fists.
“When an officer reached for his handcuffs, the accused pushed the officer to the ground and, with considerable force, clamped his teeth into the officer’s shoulder,” she added.
Defence agent, Kevin Longino, opted not to speak in mitigation until his client returns to the dock for sentencing on December 11.
Sheriff Philip Mann told the accused, of Dee Street in Banchory, that the offence “could result in custody being imposed”.
