Inspectors have praised a “supportive” care home in Aberdeen and the “good relationships” staff have with residents.
An unannounced visit from care inspectors to Archway Care Home on Victoria Street posed no problems to staff and residents.
The centre provides short-time respite care, residential care for people who need additional help with daily tasks, and support for people living with dementia.
Archway runs six homes in and around the Aberdeen area including Banff, Tullos, Stonehaven and Woodside.
Archway Care Home on Victoria Street was visited on October 26 and received a “very good” report.
The recent inspection report, published by the Care Inspectorate yesterday stated: “During the inspection we spent some time with people who used the service and it was clear that they had good relationships with staff and that staff were responsive to their needs.
“Staff confirmed that they felt well supported and received regular supervision and were able to attend team meetings.
“Carers spoke positively about the staff in the service and said they had every confidence in their ability to appropriately support their relative.
“We could see that the supervision process was supportive and designed to encourage staff to meet key objectives and be involved in personal and professional development, for example taking responsibility for specific areas.
“There were a range of processes in place to ensure that the service was managed appropriately.”
The only point of improvement the Care Inspectorate suggested surrounded certain filing situations.
The report stated: “In some files it was difficult to see for example that risk assessments or information on guardianships had been completed, although this information was there.
“We signposted the service to the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland checklist and specifically to the delegated powers section.
“Some files would benefit from general updating, especially where circumstances or processes had changed.”
