A village postmaster and her customers have launched an appeal to find the owner of a precious brooch.
The pin, which contains an aged picture of a soldier, was found lying in the street in Boddam after Remembrance Sunday.
A visitor accidentally stood on it while out walking on Queens Road and handed into to the local post office in the hope the owner would see it.
Postmistress Ann Paterson put the brooch up on display, but more than two weeks on nobody has come forward to claim it.
She said: “The woman who found it didn’t want to go knocking on doors so left it with us – she had been walking in the dark and stood on it.
“After picking it up she saw it had the photo of a man in the army on it.
“We assume someone on their way home from a Remembrance event has dropped it so maybe someone who went to the Peterhead parade or an event near here has lost it.
“It is quite sad to see it lost – it might be the only photo left of that person.”
Earlier this week, customer Caren McGillivray popped into the post office and decided to put an appeal out on social media in the hope of tracking down the owner.
She said: “I was in the post office and saw it lying there, so asked Ann whose it was and she explained what happened.
“I took it upon myself to put it on Facebook as nobody else that works there has Facebook.
“We would like to give it back to the owner, especially with it being found on Remembrance Sunday.”
Since the appeal went online, it has been shared more than 100 times.
Ms Paterson is delighted, adding: “Not everyone goes into their local post office so it’s been sitting here for almost two weeks now.
“Hopefully it can be reunited with it’s owner soon.”
