An Aberdeen community was in shock yesterday following the discovery of a man’s body in a suburban garden.
The 51-year-old male was found in front of a property in the city’s Bucksburn area at around 6.30am.
Police cordoned off Marischal Gardens as they began investigations and a blue tent was erected to conceal the body until it could be moved.
It was initially unclear what had happened but police subsequently said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Police did, however, remain outside the property for much of yesterday as forensic teams worked.
Nearby residents were shocked to wake up to the police activity and one, who did not wish to be named, said she was “speechless” and had “never heard of anything like this” in the five years she had been living on the street.
She added: “It is so shocking. This is such a quiet street.”
It is understood that the man was not living in the house he was found lying outside and may not have local to the area.
Detective inspector Sam Buchan said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family at this sad time.
“I would like to thank the local community for its patience while enquiries were carried out in the area.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
