A north-east animal sanctuary is appealing for donations towards a new wildlife and emergency clinic.
Keith and Pauline Marley, who founded the Ellon-based New Arc, lodged a planning application in April to build a single-storey facility for them to provide additional accommodation for the animals they rescue.
Their application has been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.
However, since submitting the application costs for materials have risen considerably and the team are now appealing for assistance from locals so they can cope with the influx of injured animals.
Mr Marley said: “We took in 270 birds and animals in June alone this year so now is the time to build.
“But it took a while to get the application through and we were delighted until we got re-estimates on the costs and found they had risen.
“Companies aren’t sure of their futures so the increased cost has left us short.
“Donations of materials from local building companies would be great and on Tuesday Pay Pal are doubling all donations so we would really appreciate the help.”
The new facility would have separate predator and prey rooms allowing the centre to accept more animals requiring emergency care.
