Police have erected a blue tent outside a Fraserburgh launderette today after a person had an “adverse reaction” to a mystery substance.
The emergency services are currently in attendance at a laundry business on Frithside Street.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at noon to attend after a member of the public suffered an adverse reaction to a substance in a package.
“We are taking precautionary measures”.
One person is being treated by medical teams at the scene.
An area of the street outside the launderette has been covered by the police as standard procedure while the emergency services determine exactly what the substance is.
Chief Inspector Rob Sturton said: “Any call of this nature must be taken seriously by emergency services from the outset, especially when an unknown and potentially harmful substance could be involved.
“Precautionary measures were put in place by all partners in accordance with established protocol and we managed to quickly establish that there was no threat to the public.
“I would like to thank the local community for its co-operation while this incident was dealt with – your patience is appreciated.”
