A farmer has been seriously injured after a bull reared up and landed on him in a show ring at Thainstone Mart today.
Emergency services were called to the mart, outside Inverurie, after the drama unfolded during the show of pedigree bulls around lunchtime.
Douglas Smith, of Drumsleed Farm, Fordoun, had been in the ring with his Simmental bull – estimated to weight around a tonne – when the accident took place.
First aiders raced to help while fellow farmers got the bull under control and out of the ring.
Paramedics were called and Mr Smith was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
