An Aberdeen Inspired spokeswoman said the decision had been taken to close the Christmas village until further notice due to the “inclement” weather. She said: “We will continue to monitor the developing weather pattern and will make a further announcement on its re-opening in due course. “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank people for their patience and understanding on the matter.” Last night the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency issued a flood alert for Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen city. A spokesman for SEPA said: “Heavy and persistent rainfall is expected from Wednesday afternoon. “This will lead to a risk of flooding from surface water in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday.” And the Met Office said that heavy rain is to be expected in the north-east which may lead to travel disruption and flooding in a few places. Wind gusts of 60mph are also expected, with a few more exposed locations seeing 70 mph gusts.”
