Groundbreaking healthcare research carried out in the Grampian region during the last year has been highlighted at a special event.
NHS staff, researchers, patients and members of the public came together at Aberdeen University’s Foresterhill Campus to celebrate healthcare research at a symposium day.
The focus of the event was raising public awareness and involvement in clinical research.
And a wide variety of discussions, showcasing events and information for the public, results from local research and opportunities for nursing and allied health professionals to do research, ended with a talk by members of the public.

Dr Katie Banister, who coordinates patient and public involvement and engagement for the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) spoke at the event.
HSRU works to ensure their research, conducted in Aberdeen, reaches as many people as possible.
The organisation involves stakeholders, patients and members of the public, in their projects and runs events throughout the year to actively engage people with their work.
Dr Bannister said: “A highlight of the day was hearing directly from members of the public who work with us on developing and improving health services research and what a difference they have made by being involved in research teams.
“We are always keen to hear from members of the public who would like to be involved in shaping our research.
“They make such a valued contribution.”
