A man has been jailed for attempting to steal drugs from a pharmacy in Aberdeen.
Alan Thomson had moved away from the drug taking scene but was visited by old associates with weapons demanding money.
On the morning of September 18 they gave him an ultimatum and so he decided to target the Tillydrone Pharmacy on Hayton Road.
The 22-year-old went in masked, closed the door, brandished a knife and demanded medication.
But within minutes police arrived on the scene and he was arrested.
Thomson confessed to the offence, which took place on, during an earlier appearance in Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he returned yesterday to be sentenced.
Representing him, defence agent Peter Keene said it was a “hair brained scheme” borne out of desperation.
Imposing a sentence, Sheriff William Summers said: “The incident was plainly terrifying for those who witnessed it.
“You have a previous conviction in March this year for assault to injury with the use of a knife.”
He jailed Thomson, who was described in court papers as a prisoner at HMP Grampian, for two years.
