A major search is under way after a driver fled the scene after a four-vehicle crash near Ellon last night.
Four vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place at about 10.45pm.
One of the cars had collided into a central reservation of A90 road at Tipperty Junction and ended up on its side, with the remaining three cars also seriously damaged.
Officers were spotted using thermal cameras to search nearby fields for the driver thought to have caused the crash.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were in attendance, with one female motorist treated for a minor head injury.

A police spokesman said: “We received the call regarding a four-vehicle road traffic collision on the A90, near Ellon.
“One female sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
“Investigations are under way and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with any information.”
The vehicles were involved were a Golf, Toyota, VW Passat and a Silver Megane.
There were severe delays as police diverted cars away from the scene, and both lanes were closed for 45 minutes.
