Aberdonians have been warned to look out for a potential scam where salesmen were claiming to be carrying out work on behalf of the council.
The local authority said a group of men were contacting residents in the Rosemount and Midstocket areas of the city yesterday.
A member of the public said the man had told him Aberdeen City Council was preparing to start a programme of window replacements in the area, and asked if he wanted to participate.
But the council has confirmed that no such plans are in place.
A spokeswoman said: “People should be cautious about companies claiming to carry out work on our behalf, as we would normally write to residents in advance to let them know of works which are going to be carried out.
“Anyone with any queries, even if it is to check staff or contractors who are legitimately carrying out work on behalf of the city council, should contact 03000 200 292.”
