Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin recently joined the Children’s Hospices Across Scotland charity at its storytelling evening in Edinburgh.

Several speakers, including young people in care, parents and support staff, shared the impact the charity has had on them since it was established over 25 years ago.

The special event was held at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Health and Social Care.

Ms Martin said: “As Scotland’s national children’s hospice service, CHAS plays a crucial role in supporting children with life-shortening conditions and their families, particularly here in Aberdeen where it has its dedicated at home service which currently supports 46 families across the entire Grampian region.

“After hearing the moving, uplifting and often funny stories of families, siblings and staff, and meeting many people whose lives have been touched by CHAS, it is clear that we must continue to do what we can to support every effort to reach families who need these services.”
