A local charity is celebrating receiving more than £10,000 in the run-up to Christmas.
Home-Start Aberdeen has been supporting families in Aberdeen city since 1987.
An influx of recent funds include £5,000 from Miss Caroline Jane Spence’s trust fund and £3,000 from the John Gordon Charitable trust.
Further cash boosts have come from local organisations including Sheddocksley Co-op, Aberdeen Lions Club, Sheddocksley Baptist Church Fine Peace Cafe and St Margaret’s School for Girls.
The donations will enable Home-Start to deliver its core work of providing home-visiting volunteer support to families with young children helping them to overcome the challenges they face.
It costs the charity around £1,500 to support a family for a year, meaning that more children and parents will be able to use their services in 2019 as a result of new donations.
The team of 13 co-ordinate the efforts of around 125 volunteers, who support more than 200 families each year.
Eleanor McEwan, general manager of Home-Start said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive these funds which are a great boost to our operations going into 2019.
“It is this work which makes such a huge impact, enabling the parents and children we support to overcome life’s challenges.
“We’re extremely grateful to all of these groups and organisations for their support and generosity.”
