He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died of his injuries, believed to be stab wounds.
He has yet to be formally identified.
Officers arrested a 59-year-old shortly after the incident, and he has now been charged. It is expected he will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.
Last night, Detective Gary Winter said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died at this very difficult time.
“Our inquiries remain ongoing however we are content that this has been a contained incident.
“There will be an increased police presence in the Tillydrone area while our inquiries continue and the community is thanked for its patience and support.”
After the early-morning incident, shocked neighbours watched on as police forensic teams entered the 18-storey building to begin investigations.
The 15th floor was occupied by officers throughout the day.
The latest death comes more than two-years after a brutal double murder in the same tower block.
Hugh Gallagher stabbed Tracy Gabriel and Keith Taylor to death before falling to his own death from the building.
