There was travel misery for hundreds of passengers as a spate of flights into and out of Aberdeen Airport were cancelled today. At least ten planes due to arrive in the Granite City, and six departing it, were not allowed to leave the runway. It is understood that heavy fog across the south of England was responsible for many of the cancellations. Planes bound for London, Newcastle, Manchester and Cardiff were among those affected while other flights were delayed. Shop worker Eilis Conneally’s flight from Belfast’s George Best Airport was delayed by more than three hours as she tried to fly back to Aberdeen. She said: “It has been a total shambles and all they told us was there has been a technical difficulty. “People are getting stressed and upset, there are babies crying. We just feel like we have been left in limbo.” Aberdeen Airport could not be reached for comment.
