A search has been launched to find a new home for a giant 100 poppy display made from recycled plastic bottles.
The large structure was displayed at the war memorial based in the centre of the Mintlaw roundabout to mark the centenary of Armistice Day.
It was made by chairwoman of the Mintlaw Public Hall Trustees Hilda Keith, who is now seeking a new place for her colourful creation.
Mrs Keith said:Â “We marked the 100 year anniversary by making a display for inside the hall using fabric poppies.
“While we were very busy creating the display for indoors I decided to make a display for outside using recycled plastic bottles, which I collected from family and friends.
“I made them into poppies, painted them then wired them onto the wooden frame which was made by local retired joiner Andrew Findlay.
“We unfortunately can’t use it next year as it will be 101 years and storage would also be a problem.
“I really don’t want to dismantle it as it took many hours to make.”
Mrs Keith has posted an appeal on the Mintlaw Public Hall Facebook page online urging members of the public to come up with some ideas.
Suggestions raised so far include donating the display to Aden Country Park or to keep it for future events around the town.
Mrs Keith said: “We don’t usually have a display, just a yearly British Legion Act of Remembrance, but since we have now made one inside the hall it will be on show each year.
“Although the other indoor displays can be reused the 100 will not.
“I don’t like to throw things away therefore I wondered if it would be of use to anyone.
“If not, then it has done what it was made to do and it will be dismantled.”
