The snow and ice that hit the north and north-east overnight caused a spate of collisions and transport delays this morning.
People throughout the region were advised to take care when travelling and plan their journeys in advance, following a series of crashes and breakdowns.
Gritters were out in force to help tackle the snow and ice, while a number of school bus services were cancelled across the north-east.
At Aberdeen Airport numerous flights arriving from Shetland were subject to delays, with one Eastern Airways flight from Scatsta delayed by nearly three hours.
The weather is expected to remain cold for the rest of the day, with an anticipated maximum temperature of 4C.
Scattered snow showers are likely to continue, most frequently across eastern Aberdeenshire.
The Highlands and Lewis can also expect a few snow showers that will become confined to Sutherland and Caithness this afternoon.
