A comic book artist has added a splash of colour to a north-east charity’s £2 million fundraising campaign.
Friends of Anchor has launched its Anchored Together campaign to help kit out a new £32 million cancer and haematology centre being built at the Foresterhill health campus.
As part of that, the charity enlisted the help of local illustrators to create an activity book for children.
Copies have been left in restaurants around Union Square and also in the Anchor Unit at the infirmary.

Craig Munro, a comic artist, was one of those who got on board with the project. His superhero tale adorns the book’s cover.
Together with the charity, he came up with a story where two superheroes have to collect two million “anchor stones” to help fill up the new centre.
With the help of the red army – inspired by the charity’s volunteers – they manage to complete their mission.
Mr Munro, who is originally from Forres, said it was a rewarding experience to be involved with a project that had a wider message.
The 34-year-old said: “I really enjoyed being a part of something that had a bit more of an overall message, not that I think it’s any less worthwhile doing a story for a story’s sake.
“Overall I was really pleased with it.
“It was a bit of a collaboration between myself and the charity; they came up with a script and I refined it and then created the drawings digitally.”
Local illustrators Melissa Burnett, Alex Laing and Charlie Dear, were also contributors to the activity book.
Erica Banks, PR and fundraising executive for the charity, said: “The creative talent we have locally is phenomenal.
“We were thrilled to see the activity books flying out – in all we have handed out more than 1,300 and we hope they captured the imaginations of everyone who took one home.
“Our thanks also go to the restaurants within Union Square who came on board to support the cause and handed the booklets out to their diners.”
