Three men have confessed to producing cannabis following the discovery of a major cannabis cultivation in Aberdeen city centre.

Police raided a property in Langstane Place in July of last year and found £250,000 worth of the drug.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Ha Le, 25, Hai Le, 35 and Cho Chan, 60, confessed to a string of drug offences.

The second of these men denied the identity given to him at court and insisted he was in fact Trung Dung Le, aged 37. The court allowed both names to appear on the indictment.

The first two men confessed to being involved in the supply of cannabis between June 19 and July 3 last year at Langstane Place and also producing the drug over the same period.

Chan admitted supplying the substance between February 6 and May 11 last year on Mastrick Road.

He also admitted to producing cannabis alongside the other two men.

Following their confessions, Sheriff Morag Mclaughlin deferred sentence on the three men, all prisoners at HMP Grampian, in order to obtain reports.

They will return to court next month.

Following the discovery, Detective Inspector Fionnuala McPhail said: “A significant quantity of controlled drugs has thankfully been seized before it reached our communities.

“I would like to thank the public who provided information which allowed us to target our resources to the right place at the right time.”
