Police confirm body found at Balmedie Beach is missing Alastair Done

Police have confirmed that the body recovered at Balmedie Beach on Sunday evening is that of missing Alastair Done.

Extensive inquiries and searches had been ongoing in the area since the 25-year-old, from Cheshire, was last seen there on January 5.

Detective Inspector Sam Buchan said: “Alastair’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time.

“I would once again like to thank the members of the public who took the time to get in touch with information and to those who shared our appeals.”
