The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for ice across the north and north-east.
In the Highlands ice is expected to form later on this afternoon and continue throughout the night.
Further hail, sleet and snow showers are also expected, with the warning lifting at 11am tomorrow.
A forecaster from the Met Office said: “Ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths might lead to longer journey times.”
In the north-east, a yellow ice warning is in place from 6pm today until 11am tomorrow.
The Met Office said: “Another cold night with a risk of ice, either where surfaces remain wet from daytime showers, or where further wintry showers fall onto frozen surfaces during the night and on Thursday morning.
“Showers will be a mix of rain, sleet and snow, with some slight accumulations possible, mainly above 200 metres.”
