MSP Maureen Watt has brought the issue of the Aberdeen City Region Deal to parliament.
The Aberdeen South and North Kincardine representative spoke in the Scottish Parliament yesterday, during a debate on city deals.
Ms Watt highlighted the process of the Aberdeen City Region Deal, which encompasses a number of projects including the Oil and Gas Technology Centre, a digital infrastructure fund and a proposed expansion of Aberdeen Harbour.
She said: “Spurred on by the downturn in the oil and gas sector, the partners in the Aberdeen City Region Deal hit the ground running.
“It is very important that City Deal money is used as soon as possible to upgrade the road infrastructure needed to access the new harbour development at the Bay of Nigg, bypassing the communities of Torry and Cove.”
Funding for the deal comes from the Scottish Government, UK government, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, local universities, and the private sector.
