A fry of baby seahorses made a splash when they went on display at Macduff Marine Aquarium.
The four youngsters have been kept in an off-exhibit nursery tank and made their pubic debut at Moray Firth attraction at the weekend.
It was also the first time the baby seahorses have met their mother after being carried by their father.
They only have a one in-2,000 chance of survival after birth and Macduff Marine Aquarium is one of the few UK institutions that has managed to raise fry to this age.
A 200-strong fry was born last year but only four survived into adulthood.
Aquarist Frazer Mackay said the seahorses are flourishing as they adapt to life alongside their parents.
He said: “The baby seahorse are now seven months old, they are about 10 times the size they started out at and are feeding well.
“They seem to have settled into their new tank with the grown-ups quite well and we are very hopeful that they will continue to thrive.”
