A north-east support group for women who have lost a child has set itself a series of ambitious goals to mark its second anniversary.
Miscarriage Information Support Service, or Miss, was founded in 2017 by Abi Clarke, who wanted to use her own experience to help others.
Since then it has grown to include two regular support groups in Aberdeen and helped scores of women and their partners through traumatic experiences.
Last year the organisation put on an inspiring fashion show to boost the self-confidence of several of its members – and raise important funds to further raise awareness of the cause.
Last night Mrs Clarke said: “The last two years have gone exceptionally quick.
“We have two support groups in the city, very active social media with over 500 members and a phone service.
“Following our AGM in October we have made several plans and aims – including to raise £4,000 per year, new merchandise and marketing materials to raise more awareness about the group and offer more support to our members, create a website and register as a charity.”
To mark the group’s second anniversary, a race night will be held at The Ashvale on Great Western Road, Aberdeen, from 7pm on March 29.
Tickets cost £15 and include dinner. For more information or sponsorship opportunities e-mail miscarriageinfosuppservice@gmail.com
Mrs Clarke added: “Miss is very thankful to all the local businesses which support, speak and provide activities for every group and most importantly, our members who have made a big step to attend and believe in the group.”
