The number of defibrillators in a north-east town will increase significantly following a major funding boost.
Fraserburgh already has six of the public access life-saving devices and five more of the machines will be added to that total in the months ahead.
At the moment, the port has defibrillators available at the harbour office, the fire station, the fitness centre on Maconochie Road, outside Maitlands furniture store on Cross Street, the Spar convenience store on Smiddyhill Road and the Asda supermarket on Watermill Road.
The network expansion has been made possible after the Fraserburgh Community Safety Group secured a £9,000 grant from the Your Voice, Your Choice funding scheme.
The defibrillators, which give a high-energy electric shock to someone who is in cardiac arrest, will be accessible at all times.
John Anderson, a member of the community safety group, confirmed they had already identified the locations for two of the devices.

He said they were committed to positioning the others away from Fraserburgh town centre, so they are available to more people.
Mr Anderson added: “We want to set up one on Broad Street, another on West Road and we are yet to decide where the others will go.
“We would like to put them in residential areas because we have the town centre covered.
“They will available 24 hours a day and will be kept in a bright yellow box, so you cannot miss them.”
Fraserburgh Community Safety Group chairman and town councillor Brian Topping welcomed efforts to increase the number of life-saving machines available.
He said: “I am delighted the Fraserburgh and district community safety group is expanding defibrillators throughout the town – a lot of hard work has been put into this and everyone should remember we are all volunteers.
“The safety group has done many projects over the years in accident prevention and safety awareness as well as crime prevention and works closely with local emergency services and other partners when appropriate.”
