Residents of a north-east town are being given the opportunity to find out more about a forthcoming housing development.
Grampian Housing Association is using a public information event to elaborate on revised plans to convert the former school building and school house at Abergeldie Road in Ballater.
Although the association won an appeal to build new homes in Ballater, following further consultation with the Ballater and Crathie Community Council (BCCC), a revised planning application is being made.
GHA chairman Peter Kennedy said: “Through this development, we will be providing much-needed affordable housing for those living in Ballater and the surrounding area as well as bringing back into use a listed building which has been empty for many years.
“We have already built over 300 new homes since 2014, and this development is part of our wider plan to increase the number of homes we build across Aberdeenshire by 2021.”
When complete, the development at the former Ballater School will be advertised locally and online via HomeHunt.
The first residents are expected to move into the development later this year or in early 2020.
The proposal has the backing of BCCC, whose chairman Jim Anderson stated his support for the revised plans for new houses and apartments.
The public information event takes place tomorrow from 3pm to 7.30pm in the Victoria and Albert Halls, Station Square, Ballater.
