Developers of a landmark community campus in Aberdeenshire have confirmed they are on target for a Spring 2020 opening.
One of the biggest school construction projects in Scotland, the new £55 million Inverurie Community Campus is being built alongside the existing Inverurie Academy.
Once complete, it will be home to Inverurie Academy and St Andrew’s School, as well as extensive community sports and leisure facilities such as a multi-use games area, swimming pool, two all-weather pitches and an amphitheatre.

The campus is expected to be open to pupils in March 2020 and will provide teaching accommodation for up to 1,600 pupils.
To mark a year until completion, Hub North Scotland – who together with Robertson Construction and Aberdeenshire Council are responsible for the development – released a video on social media showing how far the project has come.
In an effort to hit the target completion date, the number of workers at the site has increased from 80 to 100 and material deliveries to the site have also been stepped up.
The developers said work on the structure of the main teaching building is now complete and described progress on the community facilities wing and St Andrews School building as “positive.”
In recent months, hundreds of pupils have visited the site to see at close hand how their new school is taking shape.
Following completion of the project early next year, work will continue with the demolition of existing facilities and the completion of external landscaping, parking and all-weather pitches.
Aberdeenshire Provost Bill Howatson said the new campus would “improve opportunities for everyone”.
