Police are planning to draft in specialist dive teams and a helicopter this weekend as their search continues for a missing Huntly man.
Marian Pavel, 45, was reported missing from the town on February 20 at about 7.30pm.
Officers have since carried out extensive searches of Huntly and the surrounding area and have been speaking to residents to try and jog their memories.
They revisited the town this week exactly one week after Mr Pavel was last seen, near the Dean’s Shortbread Factory located on Steven Road.
They spoke to more than 200 pedestrians and motorists, but so far have not found any more clues as to Mr Pavel’s whereabouts.
Police said they are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and have urged anyone to come forward if they think they may have seen Mr Pavel.
Inspector Matt Smith said: “We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the revisit on Wednesday at Steven Road in Huntly.
“More than 200 motorists and pedestrians were stopped and spoken to, the vast majority of whom were already aware of the missing person and were keen to assist.
“Every new piece of information will now be reviewed and assessed.
“We are very grateful that a number of people have come forward as a result of the appeals to report seeing Marian – however the majority of these have been fully checked and have been assessed to not be him.
“Intensive searches are continuing in the Huntly area and will include the use of specialist police resources including the dog unit and the dive and marine unit.
“The local community has been particularly supportive of our inquiries so far and I would like to thank them for that.
“Given that there are rural areas around Huntly we ask that people please continue to check any sheds, outbuildings or vacant properties they have for signs Marian may have sought shelter there.
“Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.”
Mr Pavel, who is Romanian, is described as being about 6ft 2 tall with brown hair, which is shaved at the sides and usually pulled back in a ponytail.
When last seen, he was wearing a dark blue pullover, grey woolly hat, blue jeans and black shoes.
