A parent council has backed plans to install unisex toilets at a north-east primary school.
The council is searching for a contractor to convert the boys toilets at South Park School in Fraserburgh.
Work on the £65,000 project is due to start in the summer and the local authority has now issued a tender for the project.
The current lavatories will be completely stripped out and replaced with four brand new cubicles.
In a newsletter South Park parent council said the switch to gender neutral loos was a “good idea.”

The document said: “The parent council looked at the toilet upgrade plans to install a block of four unisex cubicles in the extension toilets, nearest the cloakroom.
“The general feeling is that this looked a good idea and that open plan toilets would mean less opportunities for incidents to happen in the toilets.”
Last night parent council chairman said no-one had spoken out against the proposed changes.
He said: “The cubicles go from the ceiling to the floor and we needed new ones anyway.
“We do have extra toilets available and the new ones are right next to the staff room so can be easily monitored.
“It all seems to be going ahead which is good. There have certainly been no objections.”
Work on the revamp at South Park primary school is due to begin in June once a contractor has been appointed.
Last night an Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said the upgrade was part of plans to introduce same sex loos in more of the region’s schools.
He said: “South Park Primary School in Fraserburgh is due for an upgrade to its toilets.
“The decision to install shared toilet areas at the school is in line with plans to introduce shared toilets to schools throughout Aberdeenshire where practical in order to meet the needs of all children.”
