Proposals to erect a 40-ft steel pole near an Aberdeen conservation area will be debated by councillors this week.
Members of the planning committee will meet on Thursday to discuss the application for the pole with two antennae and other infrastructure at land to the south of Stoneyhill Terrace in Cove Bay.
The application has been referred to the committee because the Cove and Altens Community Council has formally objected to the proposal due to fears that erecting the pole in the conservation area would “set a precedent”.
However, councillors have been advised by officers to approve the proposal for beside Jamieson’s fruit and veg yard.
The report reads: “The proposed equipment would sufficiently comply with the relevant policies of the Aberdeen Local Development Plan… in that the proposal would not have a significant detrimental impact on the visual amenity and character of the surrounding area and is line with the principles set out in Scottish planning policy.
“On the basis of the above, and following on from the evaluation under policy and associated guidance, it is considered that there are no material planning considerations that would warrant refusal of the application.”
