Dozens of people queued to be among the first into Peterhead’s newest pub yesterday.

The town centre was buzzing as locals eagerly awaited the opening of the new Brewdog on Marischal Street, which is hoped will give the area a much needed boost.

With recent regeneration efforts and a push by many organisations to welcome new commerce into the Drummers Corner area, it is hoped the excitement around the Ellon-based company will bring more visitors and more businesses to Peterhead.

“Judging by the amount of people here today there’s obviously interest.

“We’ll definitely be coming back regularly.”

At another table was Mike Fearn, from Peterhead, who said: “It’s great to see something new on the high street.

“It’s some much needed rejuvenation as the place has been looking a bit sorry for a while.

“Really it shows a commitment to them helping the area.”

And John Pascoe, chairman of Rediscover Peterhead Bid, was equally as thrilled with the prosperous new addition.

He said: “We are delighted to finally see the opening of Brewdog in Peterhead and warmly welcome the new local team to the town centre.

“The community of Peterhead has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new bar on Marischal Street – which is testament to the fact that we are ready for a new energy to arrive here.
