A man has died following a house fire in a north-east village.
The alarm was raised at around 6.15pm and four appliances made their way to the scene in the Redwell Court area of Whitehills, near Banff.
Four fire appliances were sent and extinguished the blaze within the single storey property.
Police said tonight the 50-year-old was found inside. A spokesman said next of kin had been informed.
Detective Inspector Michael McKenzie said, “A joint investigation will be carried out with the Fire Service to establish the cause of the fire but at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
