Lifeboat crews in Aberdeen were sent to help a sick crew member aboard an offshore vessel this evening.
With seven crew members on board, the all-weather vessel Bon Accord sailed to the MV Maersk Laser just after 7pm.
The offshore supply ship was around five miles south-east of Aberdeen at he time.
Once arriving at the scene, two RNLI casualty-care members boarded the vessel to assess the injured worker.
The man was then brought back onto the lifeboat, in line with advice the boat’s coxswain received from the emergency department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The lifeboat then returned to shore where an ambulance took the man to hospital.
Coxswain Davie Orr said: “This was a very satisfactory outcome.
“We were quickly able to put casualty care crew aboard the vessel and assess symptoms.
“When I sought advice from A&E it came quickly and allowed us to bring the gentleman ashore for onward transfer to the health services ashore.”
