A group of north-east charities have teamed up in a unique effort to help the homeless.
The Aberdeen Yarn Fest, in partnership with Shelter Scotland, Aberdeen Cyrenians, Aberdeen Foyer and Social Bite, are seeking knitting enthusiasts to make garments for those in need as part of their Wool for Warmth campaign.
The initiative will run until the Aberdeen Yarn Fest event on June 9, with collection points for knitted items throughout Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Events manager at organisers Etion Events, Adam Simpson said: “I’m really excited about this initiative, with homelessness sadly on the increase we feel it’s important to do what we can to help, and although we’re nearing summer it can still get very cold at night here in Scotland.”
Aberdeen Cyrenians’ community fundraiser Vanessa Wilhelm said: “We are extremely proud of the services we deliver for those who are homeless or have been affected by homelessness in any way.
“However, we are fully aware that we can only continue to provide these services thanks to the continued support and generosity from initiatives like Wool for Warmth which promises to make a real difference to the people we support.”
