Aberdeenshire Council has released drone footage showing what progress has been made so far on the long-awaited £16 million flood protection scheme for Stonehaven.
The town has been repeatedly blighted by flooding over the past decade and in September was identified the Scottish Environment Protection Agency as an at risk community.
The Northern Ireland-based firm McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd has been appointed by the local authority to deliver the project.
The video shows the River Carron and Glaslaw Burn and the tree and vegetation clearance works to date, which has been necessary to allow the contractor access to the river and site.
An excavator can be seen at the property named “Riverside” on Salmon Lane, creating a temporary access to the river.
At the White Bridge another excavator can be seen creating an access to the river – this was used for the temporary removal of the White Bridge, which is being refurbished then returned to its former position as part of the Stonehaven Flood Protection Scheme works.
