Mother remembers her ‘wonderful, smiling boy’ after north-east bar collapse

The mother of a north-east man who died outside the pub he ran has told of her “wonderful, smiling boy.”
Philip Eddie collapsed in the Garret Bar in Mintlaw last month with locals rushing to his aid to give him the kiss of life.
Paramedics arrived and treated him in the back of a waiting ambulance, but despite their efforts they were unable to save the 41-year-old.
Mr Eddie’s death was related to complications from a genetic condition known as myotonic dystrophy, which weakens muscles over time.
More than 400 people attended his funeral at Fraserburgh Old Parish Church last Friday and his mother, Linda Nicoll, said she was “extremely proud” of her son.
