A dangerous driver has been banned from the roads for five years after colliding with a pedestrian leaving him injured.
Colin Cumming, 32, pled guilty to driving dangerously in an erratic manner and at excessive speed when he appeared at Aberdeen sheriff court yesterday.
He struck 63-year-old Alexander Lows with the wing mirror of his car at a pedestrian crossing when he overtook other vehicles on the inside lane of North Anderson Drive.
The collision happened on the A90 on January 3, 2017.
Mr Lows was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.
Yesterday, Sheriff Ian Wallace banned Cumming, of Smithfield Garden, Aberdeen, from the roads and ordered him to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work in the community.
He said: “Given the nature of the offence, I think a community payback order is an alternative to a custodial sentence.
“But future options for the court are limited if you don’t comply with it.”
