An Aberdeen thief is facing jail for a daring raid on a supermarket.
Ryan Young, of James Street, Aberdeen, targeted the Aldi in Paisley, mear Glasgow, earlier this year – after disabling the store’s security system.
Young, 32, stopped the alarm from working in his bid to clean out the store of all the cash on the premises.
He then forced open a locked room and raided the cash boxes which were inside – netting him £1,800 in cash.
The details emerged this week when Young appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court for a pre-trial hearing.
He pleaded guilty to breaking in to the store and stealing £1,800 in an offence which he committed whilst on bail from Dundee Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Craig Harris opted not to hear the facts of the case and adjourned the case until next month.
As he did so, he said: “Sentence will be deferred for a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order Assessment.”
Young could be caged for as long as a year when he returns to the dock to learn his fate.
The Dundee Sheriff Court case he was on bail for was a drink-driving offence which saw him travelling from Stonehaven to Dundee before becoming stuck on a kerb.
He apologised to police after his car was immobilised at the Kingsway Retail Park on December 23 last year.
He was banned from the roads by a sheriff after being found to be almost four times the limit.
