Aberdeen residents have been urged to give their views on two new proposed schools for the city.

The city council intends to build the new facilities in Countesswells and Milltimber with both scheduled to open in August 2021 or as soon as possible afterwards.

A new school in the Countesswells development would mean pupils would be relocated from their current temporary accommodation.

The existing Milltimber Primary School will move to a new building on an identified site within the Oldfold Farm development.

Education convener John Wheeler said: “We are proud of our recent £80million investment in new schools and we are looking at further investments in our schools estate to ensure that our children and young people have the best possible facilities in which to learn.

“The Countesswells and Milltimber proposals are key to that ambition and reflect the expansion of the city in those areas

“I would urge anyone with an interest in the plans to take part in the consultation, so we can take everyone’s views on board before arriving at informed final decisions”.

Both consultations end at 5pm on Friday, June 7 (inclusive) and public consultation meetings will be held at: Tuesday, May 21 at Airyhall School from 7pm to 8pm for Countesswells and Wednesday, May 29 also between 7pm and 8pm at Milltimber School for the Milltimber proposal.

Survey and proposal documents are available on the city council website: www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/schoolconsultations
