An Alford man lashed out at his mum after a night of drinking – prompting her to hide in an alleyway.
Nathan Mitchell was taken to his mother’s home in Kemnay after police found him drinking in the street at about 6.30pm on March 27.
But when Melanie Mitchell tried to put her 27-year-old son to bed, he lashed out.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Mitchell “slapped” his mother on the head before punching a hole in the wall.
The alarmed woman then fled the home and hid in an alleyway as her son “staggered” down the street calling after her.
Fiscal depute Christy Ward said: “The accused had been found drinking in the street and was taken home by police.
“His mum tried putting him to bed to sleep off his intoxication but Mitchell began pushing her and then slapped her to the top of her head.

“She was upset and left the property.
“At this time, a neighbour saw the accused staggering down the road while shouting ‘mum’ repeatedly.”
The court heard that another witness later reported seeing Mitchell “lying in a bush”.
When police arrived, they found Ms Mitchell had hidden in an alleyway “to avoid contact with her son”.
Ms Ward added: “Officers found she was shaken and distressed, and the accused was arrested.”
Mitchell, of Tillyfour Court in Alford, admitted assaulting his mother by “repeatedly pushing her” and “slapping her on the head”, and damaging a wall by punching it.
Defence agent John Ferrie said his client was “thoroughly ashamed of his actions”.
Mr Ferrie added: “His mother is the one constant in his life, who has always been there for him.
“He is absolutely gutted that he acted in this manner, and in the last few weeks he has tried building bridges with his family.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace imposed an order restricting Mitchell to his home between 7pm and 7am every day for the next eight months.
